About Life's in Session
Origin
Meet Taylor
When naming the practice, I knew I wanted it to be more than a logo; I wanted it to say, "I believe every single person deserves to be met with kindness and curiosity, and be a present and active participant in their life; free and informed from the past, but not looking blindly ahead, that we miss out on experiencing our ‘now’.". However, that's too long for a business card. When I saw a sign that used to hang above the door of my families little beach-side ice cream shop, that says 'Life is now in session', I thought "Wow! That totally encapsulates the vibe I'm going for (yes, I really thought encapsulates the vibes).".
I wouldn't be the practitioner or human I am today, without the lessons I learned growing up getting pummeled playing in the waves and scooping ice cream with a summer crowd. And so... Life's in Session Counseling Co. is an ode to the beginning of my now.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and take a person-centered approach, meeting people where they are to discover helpful insights to live with a bit more ease, to stay more present, to walk with you through the process of change, or simply to validate that being human can is hard.
After graduating from the University of South Florida with my Bachelor's degree, I gained experience volunteering as a crisis counselor. I later went on to work a clerical position for psychologists, and as an advocate in a women and child shelter for those in domestic violence situations. Those experiences encouraged me to pursue my career in counseling. I attended Northwestern University where I earned my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2021.
Outside of the office I can be found hanging out with my animals (2 dogs, a cat, & a horse), playing video games, somewhere near the water, or trying a new outlandish hobby.
